About this site/info

This site started at a different subdomain called Nailpolisha. It was moved so that this could be a easier blogging platform since before I coded everything by hand. I started this blog in the first place because I enjoy collecting nail polish and wanted a good place to remember how I felt about nail polish applications of the past. It has been a handy tool and I highly recommend it if you have poor memory such as myself.

Anywho, I have always liked nail polish but I kind of out grew out of it after high school. In the past 5(ish) years, I have regained an enjoyment of the hobby. I started off only liking just glitter polishes since that was my weakness in the past but that has grown especially in the past few years (hello mattes and holos and thermals, stop being so fun!). Nail polish collecting has also helped me break a life long habit of nail biting (finally stopped July 2014!!!).

As I said before, I do not get paid for this. I do not have brands sending me polishes to review. I pay for my own polishes except for a few shades that my lovely friends/family have either gifted to me or have allowed me to adopt shades that they no longer want.

I may not know all of the lingo or use the fancy nail polish blogger words. My nails may not always be pretty looking with perfect application. I am still learning about nail care since in my past, I haven't had a need for it since they have just been stubbies (ha!). I have grown in the past few years but I am by no means a professional nor will be a pro at this blogging thing either. This is just my expression and archive of my polish collection.

The old name, Nailpolisha, just came to me. It is random and that fits my personality. In my mind, I view the name as nailpolishaaaaaa..I need that pretty new shade I saw on a blog/store/someone's nails!!!!!

The current name, Royally Polished, flowed better than Nailpolisha and I wanted it to reflect my domain name in some way. Basically I am terrible at coming up with names and it is what it is haha.

01; Who are you?

Jamie. 36. I live in Northeast Ohio.



02; Why did you start blogging?

I started documenting which polishes I wore in August 2014 in my database of polishes I own. I started taking photos of the manis in September 2014. I am doing this so that I can recall what I have worn in my collection and what it looked like with my skin tone and what my thoughts were.



03; What base/top coats do you use?

Base - China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat.
Top - Winning Nails Tough Coat. I make a note in the posts now which ones that I use.



04; Favorite finish?

I am a sucker for a one coat cream but I love holos especially linear ones.



05; Favorite colors?

My favorite polish colors are blue (real light or darker blues) and silvers.



06; What camera do you use?

I mostly use my iPhone 7 but occasionally I will bust out my old Canon SX160 IS. Most of the photos I take are in my room so therefore the lighting sucks big time. I try to take photos outside whenever possible for the natural light but usually that doesn't happen in the winter months. It's cold here lol.



07; What brands do you buy?

Zoya is my main favorite. I also enjoy Holo Taco, Live Love Polish, OPI, and China Glaze.




08; Where do you buy your polish?

I would say 96% of my polishes I buy now are online but I will occasionally pick some up at Ulta or Target.




09; Why is your rating out of 6 stars instead of 5?

Because I like even numbers. I realize this makes no sense when I am giving ratings but I do what I want because it's my blog lol.



10; Why are some of your entries labeled 11:59PM ET in a row?

I will sometimes put off putting up swatches and those are the ones I put up randomly and dated back to when they were actually applied.
