Ah, July 4th aka my favorite holiday aka my favorite excuse to do a fun mani. I have done it the past few years now. You can find last years here.
This year I googled July 4th manis and immediately became overwhelmed by all of the designs and how talented other nail artists are! So I decided instead to just be myself and be random.
For my thumbs and pinkies, I did what I did last year. I used Snow White as a base and put Sia & Challenge Red-y on a makeup sponge to do a gradient. I am still not good enough to get the entire nail bed as I do it. For one I get all of it and one I missed some spots. Oops. To add some flare, I put some stars from Rocket Out.
For my ring finger I wanted something simple so I decided to just put a coat of Rocket Out on top of Snow White.
For my middle finger I decided to bust out my nail brushes and paint stripes. I meant for them to sort of look like firework sparks but it didn't work out. However, I liked the effect so left them be.
For my index finger I decided to do dots again. I appear to be dots challenged. I can NOT get them to be the same size no matter what size I use. I decided to put Live (the silver) to add a little contrast. It looked great until I put on my top coat and it decided to smear. *woe*. I had let it dry for quite some time so I was so so sad.
I decided to do the matte top coat because I hadn't done that with the white yet and although you can't really tell it's matte, I liked it.
I took my annual photo of my nails at my grandfather's grave since we always visit him on July 3rd (the day he passed).
Overall I am giving this polish a 3 out of 6 stars. Some parts turned out better than others but I still liked it.
